Emily Moseley accepts the position of Co-Chair for the North Carolina Bar Association's 4ALL Task Force.
Emily Moseley has accepted the position of Co-Chair for the North Carolina Bar Association's 4ALL Task Force during the upcoming fiscal year, July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2012.
The North Carolina Bar Association's 4ALL Campaign, initiated in 2008 by Past President Janet Ward Black, commits to make legal services available to all North Carolinians, focusing on those at or below the poverty level. The slogan is an updated twist on the Pledge of Allegiance, "one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all." There are four working groups within the program:
- EDUCATE: Focused on educating lawyers about the poverty issues of North Carolina, legal aid as it is today, and the professional and moral obligations to act on that knowledge
- LEGISLATE: Targets and educates members of the state legislative and executive branches about the critical need of legal services for the lowest income individuals. Additionally, they focus on law school loan repayment assistance funding for NC LEAF.
- DONATE: Encourages donations from NCBA members to the Legal Aid of North Carolina (LANC) Fund and to all legal services providers in North Carolina.
- PARTICIPATE: In conjunction with the Young Lawyers Division, the NCBA organizes a "Statewide Service Day" at which North Carolina lawyers will provide legal information for free for one day. The NCBA has also launched “Call 4 All” that will provide attorneys the chance to help a pre-screened client in one of the following areas of law—private landlord/tenant, public and subsidized housing, Medicaid, disability and non-disability issues in Social Security matters, consumer collections, employee rights, custody, guardianship and simple estates.
