Emily Moseley has handled a wide range of civil litigation and complex business disputes, including complex contract matters, directors’ and officers’ liability and corporate governance disputes. She also has represented both large and small companies in various healthcare and regulatory matters and has extensive mediation experience.
Ms. Moseley is a NCDRC Certified Superior Court Mediator.
Following law school, Ms. Moseley completed a two-year clerkship for the Honorable Jennifer Coffman of the United States District Court for the Eastern and Western Districts of Kentucky. She then entered private practice with Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton, LLP (then Kilpatrick Stockton), where she worked on complex business disputes, as well as health care and regulatory matters.
Ms. Moseley has created and sustained an active pro bono practice, representing both individuals and nonprofit organizations in a broad range of matters, from Hague Convention parental kidnapping matters to Open Meetings actions. She is co-chair of the North Carolina Bar Association's 4All Statewide Service Day program. She also serves on the North Carolina Bar Association 4All Task Force and was recognized in 2007 as one of Kilpatrick Stockton’s Pro Bono Associates of the Year.
Ms. Moseley currently serves as the President of the Board of Directors for the Ronald McDonald House of Chapel Hill.
Ms. Moseley is married to Bob Esther, an orthopaedic oncologist at UNC. They live in Chapel Hill with their two children.

- Represented directors and officers of a large, multistate home health care company in cases brought by bankruptcy trustee and former employees, alleging fraud, breach of contract, and violations of ERISA and Medicare regulations.
- Represented health systems and providers in certificate of need proceedings; disputes regarding covenants-not-to compete, protection of confidential information, and employment matters.
- Represented both large and small companies in various healthcare regulatory matters and governmental investigations.
- Served as counsel in complex business litigation for both large and small companies and education institutions.
- Representation of directors and officers in derivative actions, shareholder complaints, and corporate governance disputes.
- Representation of clients before the Office of Administrative Hearings ("OAH").
- Representation of clients before the North Carolina Court of Appeals.
